KS.ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Assistant is responsible for
performing patient care duties under the Medical Assistant scope of
practice in the urgent care setting.How you will make an impactThe
Medical Assistant supports the organization with customer service
and treating all of our patients with respect and dignity. They
provide patient care services in the back office urgent care
setting, which will meet the specific needs of the
patient.Essential Education, Experience and Skills:Education:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; and1. The medical
assistant candidate has completed an APPROVED Medical Assistant
Training Program*.Certification is not required but is
preferred."Approved medical assistant training program," means a
program accredited by one of the following two-accreditation
organizations:The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health;
orThe Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); orThe
U.S. Department of Education DAPIP2. The medical assistant
candidate has completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training
program ANDCertification* is required.Successfully passes the
medical assistant examination administered by a certifying
organization accredited by either the following two
agencies:National Commission for Certifying Agencies; orAmerican
National Standards Institute; orCertifying organizations accepted
are:American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - administers
the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification;
orAmerican Medical Technologists (AMT) - provides the Registered
Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification to individuals who
have completed the AMT criteria; orNational Healthcareer
Association (NHA)-administers the Certified Clinical Medical
Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification3. The medical assistant
candidate may be hired if they meet one of the following three (3)
criteria within A., or B., or C.A. The medical assistant candidate
completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program
ANDEmployed as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after
program completion;(Candidates must complete the All States Except
Arizona Medical Assistant Candidate Employment Attestation.)B. The
medical assistant candidate was directly supervised by a maximum of
three physician(s), physician group(s), physician assistant(s), or
nurse practitioner(s) for a minimum of 2000 hours total
(approximately working 40 hours/week for 12 months)*.(Candidates
must complete the All States Except Arizona Medical Assistant
Candidate Employment Attestation.)C. The medical assistant
completed a United States Armed Forces medical services training
program*.(Candidates must complete the All States Except Arizona
Medical Assistant Candidate Employment
